Lyrarakis Wines is considered to be among the leading quality producers on the island of Crete, focusing on native varieties.
The family is credited for reviving two ancient local white varieties, Dafni and Plyto. The winery is located at the northern side of the community of Alagni, Heraklion, the most mountainous village of the appellation area (PDO) of PEZA. Vilana, White Muscat and Sauvignon Blanc complement the range of white varieties. Indigenous red varieties Kotsifali, Mandilari, and Black Muscat are complemented by international Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
